Rsync error on file rename

Hello,

I get a rsync: rename Permission denied(13) error on files which name starts with a ".".  I think it is random (ie, sometimes the file does not trip the error, but sometimes it does).  I have taken a look around and apparantly this is a known issue with rsync.  I am using cwrsync 5.01 update 10.

Below is a copy of one of the error lines I will get.

2012/06/21 08:20:13 [484] rsync: rename "/cygdrive/e/offlinedocs/ict/Carol-Central Records/.BERRY - RECORDS REVISED 2 goals & objectives___3.doc.YoH4Ic" -> "Carol-Central Records/BERRY - RECORDS REVISED 2 goals & objectives___3.doc": Permission denied (13)

Any thoughts on how to best handle this?  Is there a setting I can use in rsync to avoid this?

Thanks

Can you give us more details

Can you give us more details about the rsync command you're using  ? Have you checked if the issue might be related to permissions (see FAQ Permissions on files/directories are cluttered/mixed up ! for a recipe) ?

HI,   I have created a fstab

HI,

I have created a fstab file on the source server with a single line of:

none /cygdrive cygdrive binary,posix=0,user,noacl 0 0

NExt I restarted the RsyncServer service and reran my rsync, still no lock.

The command I am running on the client is:

"C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin\rsync.exe" --recursive --compress --quiet "hqfs::ict-it" "/cygdrive/c/offlinedocs/ict" --log-file=%temp%-%computername%.log

I have confirmed that the service accounts in use have access to the source folder and destination folder.  There are no funny ACL's in place.  Just to be safe I assigned full control of ource/destination folders to the service account.

I have some new

I have some new information.

At first I thought the error was occuring when the source file began with a dot.  However it seems that rsync creates a temp working file that begins with a dot, and it is the renaming of this file which is a problem.

In the example below we see that it tries to rename .police.ico.f4ndmD to  police.ico but fails.

2012/06/25 00:04:41 [2948] rsync: rename "/cygdrive/e/offlinedocs/ict/Comm Software/CAD 7/Install/.police.ico.f4ndmD" -> "Comm Software/CAD 7/Install/police.ico": Permission denied (13)

Any thoughts?
