plugin check_logfiles

Hi,
I use the plugin check_logfiles and want to analyze a syslog from
the customer support application of 'footprints'. If I start the
search with the 'criticalpatterns' parameter but no errors were found
though the pattern is in the *log file. I think this problem results
of the 'end of line' or 'end of file' characters in this case.
My test with a sample file which I created works fine.
My question now is, is there a nagios parameter who defines
the 'eol' or 'eof' for input files, or do you have another idea why
the plugin doesn't work right ?
Thank you.

As you suggest, the problem

As you suggest, the problem is probably due to line endings. There are several alternatives:

  • if you use .exe version of the check_logfiles and your log files are originated from Unix, you can use bin/u2d tool to convert log files to dos format. This is an extra step however.
  • You can also copy perl version of check_logfiles into plugins directory, give it execution rights by using the command below:

chmod 755 check_logfiles
