copssh control panel does not open

I installed copssh on window 7.  When I try to open the copssh control panel nothing happens.  I tried the following a few times but no luck.

  • Uninstall Copssh
  • Remove installation directory
  • remove the service account
  • check if Opensshserver service is removed.
  • Install Copssh again

Please advise what else I need to do to get this working.

Thanks.

Contents of files tell me

Contents of files tell me about an incomplete installation/configuration. There is something blocking Control panel creating system critical files like etc/passwd, etc/groups or sshd_config. In most cases, the culprit is UAC which directs user-generated files to a virtual store. One another problem is not to run Control Panel with admin privileges. You need to right click and select 'Run as administrator' even if you've logged in as an admin.

VERSION: COPSSH Control Panel

VERSION: COPSSH Control Panel (the basic edition v2.1.2.5 that comes with the COPSSH 4.3.0 licensed download).

OS environment: Windows 2003 R2 (32bit)

PROBLEMS:

(1) copsshcp.exe took about >3 min to startup, eating up about 21% of a quad-cpu resource, and >70MB of memory

(2) Upon starting up if you click on the "About" tab, it will hang for about >3min again, memory consumption will increase >80MB  before dropping to 65MB. After that, click on any tabs will be quick.

IMPACTED releases

(1) v 4.2.1 (the free version before CopSSH started becoming licensed)

(2) v 4.3.0 (the licensed version)

Thanks for your feedback. Do

Thanks for your feedback. Do you have an active event log on this system. By active, I mean lots of eventlog entries within a short period of time. One other question: Is this server a domain controller ?

I will make some measurements to see if it is a general problem.

I would like also to inform that Control Panel is being coded from the scratch with a much more less resource demanding technology. I assume that the new version will be released in May.
