Bash

Ok, silly question. I'm now trying to get CWRSYNC to work through the built in SSH instead of using VANDYKE. I am struggling. First off right after I install CWRYSNCSERVER, I try launching bash from the shortcut and it complains about cygncurses-8.dll not being found. Do I need to install COPSSH? Also, when generating public keys with NULL, how to you test an SSH connection manually? Just hit enter?
Thanks.

Re: Bash

I don't get the message about lack of cygncurses-8.dll on my test 2003-server. Bash starts just fine. I have no idea why you get this message. What version and platform do you use ?

No copSSH is needed if you have installed CwrsyncServer with openssh component. On client side (windows only), you can install cWrsync with secure channel support. You will then be able to use Secure Channel Wizard, which generates a batch file for secure channel operations. Manual setup is required for connections from other platforms. Batch file example from the Wizard can give some clues about how this can be done.

That is the supported way to initiate secure rsync operations. I know that there are many other alternatives out there. I just picked the one that works for rsync on cygwin.

Re: Bash

Hmm, I even installed this on a second machine (this time a Windows XP machine) tried launching bash.exe and still get the message the application has failed to start because cygncurses-8.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Re: Bash

I have exactly the same problem (Win XP SP2, fresh install of cwRsync yesterday): cygncurses-8.dll apparently missing...

Re: Bash

Huh! I apologize. Both of you are right. cygncurses-8.dll lacks in the distribution package. However, It is in the package build tree. Apparently, I forgot to rebuild the package after having added this DLL.

I will update the server package as soon as possible. As an interim solution, click here to download a copy of cygncurses-8.dll and place it in the bin directory.

Checksums:

SHA1 - 35b6ab8c9c910a452245beed2ff79cc95ce8f256 *cygncurses-8.zip

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
